Way to Show Up, Bonner County!

1,100 people came out in Sandpoint to rally for our democracy!

Our final count for Saturday’s NO KINGS rally was close to 1,100! We saw a lot of new faces, and a lot of younger faces this time around. Keep spreading the word, and sending people to this website to get info on all future actions.

Sandpoint’s rally was one of more than 3,300 rallies across the United States. (In October, there were 2,700 rallies.) Last October, more than 7 million people turned out to rally for our democracy – an exponential growth from the 5 million people who turned out on June 14th. This rally, more than 8 million people turned out in all 50 states and DC – and that’s not counting the people around the world who rallied with us!

Across the country, our NO KINGS rallies were peaceful gatherings. Here in Sandpoint, the Sandpoint Police were once again present (and much appreciated!). No armed counter-protestors this time, and far more enthusiasm from people driving by!

Food Drive

Once again, thank you to Volunteer Jackie, who organizes our food drives! She delivered 223 pounds of food to the food bank this morning. In addition, you all donated – are you ready for this – $369.85 in cash! That all goes directly to the Bonner Community Food Bank and supports members of our community.

That 85-cent donation was especially poignant: A boy, about 11 years old, rode his bike up to the table. He looked it over, dug around in his pockets, and came up with a few dollars and that 85 cents to contribute. Two organizers saw him contribute, but he rode off before they could thank him. He left some suspiciously watery eyes in his wake.

The kids are all right.

The Community Forum was a huge success — again!

Thank you to the 19 local community groups who participated! Thank you to everyone who visited their tables, signed the petition to restore reproductive rights, signed up to volunteer, and donated money. THANK YOU!

THANK YOU!

Thank to the Peacekeepers for once again ensuring a safe, peaceful event.

Thank you to the Sandpoint Police Department for working to protect our 1st Amendment rights and keep us safe.

Thank you to all the local groups who participated in the Community Forum.

Thank you to all the members of 1 Million Rising for organizing the Community Forum.

Thank you to members of the band Lights on the Water for providing music.

Thank you to the members of the Sandpoint Resistance Revival Chorus.

And most of all, thank you to everyone who came out to rally to protect our democracy!
Thank you for your signs, your costumes, and your enthusiasm!

May Day is coming! Stay tuned!

  1. Thank you for organizing the protest rally. This was the third one I have attended and it was wonderful to see so many young people joining in the protest. Their futurers are at stake and they need to show up even more on the next rally.
