Friday Solidarity Events

Sandpoint Indivisible just got off the phone with on-the-ground, local community organizers in Minneapolis, St. Paul, Alexandria, and St. Cloud, Minnesota. This is what they are asking us to do tomorrow to support their efforts:

  1. Join us upstairs at Eichardt’s pub this Friday 4-6pm to collaborate and coordinate aid for Minnesota and for our Nation. Art! Stories! Community!
  2. Donate to Minnesota Mutual Aid Groups. Send donations to Powderhorn Park neighborhood directly through Sandpoint Indivisible’s organizer through Venmo @Rachel-Castor-9 or PayPal @racastor.  Or send donations to aid groups in MN HERE. Reply or comment on this post for more information, personal stories, and to know how you can sponsor immigrant families for February rent.
  3. Tell your senators to rein in ICE right now. Congress has to pass an appropriations bill by January 30 to keep the Department of Homeland Security funded, which means Dems have a lot of leverage to include provisions that rein in ICE and freeze its budget. Call your senators now and demand they use the appropriations bill to protect our communities from ICE. (More info here
  4. Then, tell all your Members of Congress: No votes for an appropriations bill that doesn’t rein in ICE. After you’ve called your senators, please use our email tool to demand your senators and representative withhold their votes from any DHS budget that hands ICE more funding or fails to end border patrol deployments in our cities.

Wednesday, January 7th, an American citizen was killed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This killing is part of a broader pattern of unchecked violence, impunity, and abuse carried out by federal immigration enforcement agencies against members of our communities.

A broad coalition of groups across the country is calling for a coordinated Ice Out For Good actions on Friday, January 23rd in solidarity for Minnesota, and to demand accountability, honor the life lost, and make visible the human cost of ICE’s actions.

    1. Thanks, Judy. That is the same link that’s included in the post for folks who want to donate to aid groups in MN. It’s a great list of local groups including mutual aid.
